The Ontario EPA (Environmental Protection Act), Section 14, outlaws
emission of excess noise.
Some municipalities have noise by-laws.
Noise is limited in Ontario
by a set of "Guidelines". The basic rule is that
noise received at a dwelling (or within 30m of a dwelling)
from a stationery machine, e.g., stone crusher, should not
exceed the existing ("ambient") noise.

out in government publications such as NPC-232 (limits
on noise in rural areas) and NPC-233 (requirements for noise
