Gravel Watch Ontario acts in the interests of residents and communities to protect the health, safety, quality of life of Ontarians and the natural environment in matters that relate to aggregate resources.
VIGILANCE.
GWO keeps a watchful eye on aggregate-related operations, practices and policy development throughout Ontario.
Our representatives attend meetings; participate in forums; monitor postings; and meet with various Ministries, agencies and other organizations, in order to stay informed.
Through these activities, and continual input from our members, GWO maintains a solid knowledge of aggregate matters across the province.
EDUCATION.
GWO offers many resources to our members and the public, including:
- GravelWatch.org
- Monthly members’ meetings and annual public meetings; where information, best practices and support are shared.
- Access to a network of helpful contacts, representing decades of experience in aggregate matters.
- “Aggregates 101”, an online guide for those dealing with aggregate operations.
ADVOCACY.
GWO advocates on behalf of members, communities, the environment, and all Ontarians, for better management of aggregate resources.
We liaise with various government Ministries, and with organizations such as Top Aggregate Producing Municipalities of Ontario, Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Rural Ontario Municipalities Association and others. We participate in reviews and studies in support of improving provincial policy.
